2023 Honda Passport Trims
Choosing Your Ideal Model

The Honda Passport is an SUV that’s equally adept at both outdoor adventuring and everyday driving duties. Three trims are available for 2023, and here’s how to choose between them.

2023 Honda Passport Sport

As you’d expect from an SUV with an emphasis on rugged outdoor exploration, the 2023 Honda Passport has a highly capable powertrain that’s shared across all three trims. A 3.5L V6 engine makes an imposing 280 horsepower and 262lb-ft of torque, with the hefty output reaching all-wheel drive as standard through a nine-speed automatic transmission complete with paddle shifters.

Importantly for an SUV with genuine off-road ambitions, the all-wheel drive technology includes an intelligent traction management system with modes for different conditions, including snow, mud, and sand, ensuring accurate control over a wide range of surfaces.

The powerful engine also allows a maximum towing capacity of 1,588kg as standard, or 2,268kg with the optional tow package, adding greatly to the Passport’s overall versatility.

Inside the cabin, a 7-inch colour TFT conveys essential driving information, with an 8-inch touchscreen display sitting alongside for accessing the wide range of infotainment functions. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto provide seamless smartphone integration, while the seven-speaker sound system can be fed from sources, including AM/FM, MP3, and Windows Media Audio via both Bluetooth streaming and an auxiliary input.

Dual USB ports take care of device charging, and tri-zone automatic climate control plus heated front seats are both included to add an extra degree of comfort.

Even at this entry-level trim, the 2023 Passport provides an exhaustive suite of active safety and driver-assist functions, with key features including:

  • Forward-collision warnings with emergency mitigation braking
  • Lane-departure warnings with lane keeping assist
  • Road-departure mitigation
  • Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts
  • Multi-angle rearview camera with dynamic guidelines for easier parking

Passport Trailsport

The Trailsport trim offers several interior enhancements, including leather-trimmed seating with heating added to the second row, a driver’s seat position memory, and an acoustic windshield to reduce traffic and wind noise at highway cruising speeds.

The tech functions also receive several upgrades, most notably a wireless charging pad, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and both satellite and HD radio added to the audio sources list.

Lastly, for the Trailsport, the exterior takes a bolder look with a honeycomb front grille and enlarged dual exhaust outlets, adding to the already considerable road presence the Passport creates.

Passport Touring

The top-level Passport Touring trim sees the introduction of in-built navigation as standard, complete with bilingual voice recognition for easy hands-free control. The regular audio system is upgraded to a premium 10-speaker rig for high-end sound quality throughout the cabin, while an AT&T Wi-Fi hotspot facility provides ample connectivity options for all passengers.

To add to the high-end feel, the front seats are now ventilated and heated, and the front side windows are acoustically treated to create an even quieter drive.

Finally, the Touring trim adds HondaLink Subscription Services compatibility, with options for remote engine start, a ‘Find My Car’ function, remote door locking and unlocking, automatic collision notifications, and much more.
