Meet our New Parts Manager
A hard-core parts guy

Meet Nazrul Wani. Halton Honda was lucky enough to recruit Nazrul in February this year. With a good mix of experience and innovative thinking, we’re feeling better good about that decision. Nazrul is already an asset to our team, and we thought we should get to know him a little better.

Originally from Kashmir, Nazrul found himself working in Oman for the third largest Mitsubishi dealer in the world. “As luck would have it, I won a global award for Mitsubishi Motors out of Japan and was ranked #1 in the world. I’ve always been in automotive, especially from the parts. This was more a corporate environment. I was the national parts manager for the whole country and based in head office and we were a huge distribution centre.”

“When I emigrated, I started with a Mitsubishi store. I knew the system, so they offered me a job right away and it was a very smooth and easy transition. I picked up the culture here, including experiencing the brutal winter. Oh the winter! It was 2013 when I came here, the year of the big ice storm. I came from 365 days of sunshine and a 5 min. commute to work. So, it was a bit of a shock. But I’m happy with the decision, my kids are grown now. My daughter is graduating from UofT and signed up for a graphic design degree, and my son started liking cars too so he’s going into his third year at Automotive Business School with Georgian college. He’s more into the overall operations and management aspect.”

“So, it’s been interesting, and a tough first few years. Mitsubishi in Canada is not so big as it is back there, but I’m a hard-core parts guy and wanted to move further out of the GTA so this dealership is well situated.”

Has anything surprised him? “I’m pleasantly surprised by the people here. A good number are different I think, from where I’ve worked. So nice and so focused on the customer experience. I asked myself, “is it the culture of the company, are the owners treating the staff very well?” Yes! The vibe I’ve got here in the first month was…really extraordinary to be honest. I felt welcomed. You know sometimes as a brown guy you’re met with a face. You know, a face. ☹ but I didn’t find that here.”

Does Nazrul consider himself to be an organized kind of guy? “Ohhhh yeah! My house. You should see my house! My wife, who is an ESL teacher, sometimes gets so mad at me. I’m very passionate about my things. She will say, You’re not a Parts Manager in the house!” he laughed. “So, I just had to go through this whole department. I like to have things neat and clean and in a certain way. There’s still more to be done but I’ve streamlined the workflow to our technicians. Opened up information, everyone should know. If someone goes on vacation, what happens? Everyone should know what is where. Black and white.”

He believes the parts department is somewhere that you have to have attention to detail. “The base is here, I’m just fine-tuning.”

Nazrul brought that eye for fine tuning to our website recently when he initiated our new online accessory catalog. Now our customers can browse and even order Honda accessories on our website. Bringing a new level of convenience for our customers, just like the new Drive Now Pay Later program where customers can purchase accessories, parts or even new tires and finance them over time.

Is there anything he wants our customers to know? “I want customers to know that we are good people to deal with. If someone is having an issue, we want them to know we are here to solve it. You know you can spend thousands of dollars on marketing to get people here. Or you can treat the customers you have very well. So bottom line: Halton Honda Parts Department are good people to help, and good experiences happen when you deal with good people.”
